Certificate in Anatomy and Physiology
This ITEC accredited diploma in Anatomy & Physiology is designed to impart students with a comprehensive understanding of the anatomy, physiology and related pathologies (diseases) of the human body. It is particularly suitable for those wishing to study health sciences or a related area. These modules form part of the IHS Diploma in Nutritional Therapy but may be undertaken as stand-alone modules or alongside an IHS certificate course.
The course can be completed entirely as distance learning via home study or as blended learning via a combination of home study and attended boot-camp weekend lectures.
- ITEC accredited - gain your ITEC Diploma in Anatomy & Physiology
- Flexible learning solutions - study via distance and optional attendance at A&P bootcamp weekends
- Continue your education - Fast track onto the Diploma in Nutrtional Therapy programme
About this Course
This ITEC accredited certificate course forms part of the IHS Diploma in Nutritional Therapy but may also be completed as a stand alone qualification for those interested in gaining a solid background in the study of anatomy and physiology prior to furthering their studies in the health sciences. This course takes a comprehensive look at all systems of the body, how they function and related pathologies from a health sciences perspective. Additional crucial information on current orthodox treatment options and the prevalence of specific disease states in the West are also discussed.
All systems of the human body are covered in detail during Module 1 of this certificate course while Module 2 covers the related pathologies, including describing common diseases associated with each system, common orthodox treatments and the prevalence of these conditions particularly in Western society.
This allows students flexibility of study as they may choose to complete all anatomy & physiology first or may study the related pathologies alongside this material. Each module is assessed by examination and students may take an additional ITEC multiple choice examination to obtain an ITEC Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology.
The Certificate in Anatomy and Physiology may be completed by distance learning or blended learning (home study with some in class lectures and boot camps). All students have the option to attend in-class boot camps attached to each module which are run throughout the IHS academic year of September to May. The format is modular allowing you to direct the progress of your learning. Structured home study allows you to complete each module in the comfort of your own home, at your own pace whilst mutually agreed goals and milestones ensure that you will remain focused while still allowing you flexibility.
A timetable of potential in-class lectures and boot camps is given to each student at the commencement of their studies so they can decide if and when they would like to attend relevant in-class etc. As a student you will be assigned a personal tutor to guide and mentor you through the programme. Online tutorials are provided so that you receive the support that you need.
Students with no science background may choose to complete the IHS Foundation course in Basic Sciences (see separate module outline) prior to embarking on the Certificate in Anatomy and Physiology. Please contact the IHS office to discuss your requirements.
Course Content
This course covers the anatomy and physiology of all systems of the body and related pathologies. It is a perfect course for those wishing to study the health sciences but have no anatomy and physiology background.
This course will build confidence and understanding in the areas of human anatomy and physiology for those students with little or no scientific background but whom would like to undertake study on the area of the health sciences.
