Certificate in Functional Nutrition for Healthcare Professionals
About this Course
This continual professional development course is designed to provide those with existing training in the functional medicine approach to nutritional therapy with the very latest updates in this area. It is designed to equip practitioners with the most up to date and advanced knowledge and skills required to conduct in-depth, comprehensive analysis of clients and as a result maximise clinical results with the
production of more specific, individual and effective nutrition and lifestyle protocols. All lectures are taught by experienced Functional Medicine lecturers from both the UK and Ireland (Dr Fionnula McHale, Lin Ducker, Moira Browne and Suzanne Laurie) who are adept at applying the principles of functional medicine to the practice of Nutritional Therapy.
*Acceptance on the course requires evidence of existing understanding of the key functional medicine imbalances, the functional medicine matrix, antecedents, mediators and triggers. For healthcare professionals without these prerequisites an additional module in Nutritional Therapeutics can be completed alongside or before this course. Please contact the IHS office for more details.
The Practitioner Certificate in Functional Nutrition consists of 6 lecture days, covering the latest information on digestive/absorptive/microbiological, detoxification/biotransformational, hormonal, and immumological/inflammatory imbalances as identified by the Functional Medicine model. The course covers material included in the latest Institute of Functional Medicine conferences. The latest theories surrounding each imbalance will be covered in the morning of each lecture day whilst the afternoon sessions will consist of case studies and discussion to allow students to put their theoretical knowledge into practice. Assessments are case study based so students can gain benefit from working through real life cases with feedback from Nutritional Therapy and functional medicine experts.
This programme is open to practitioners only. Please contact the office for further details on 076 603 0746.
